Webtec showcases career opportunities to local students

Webtec, the Cambridgeshire based specialist manufacturer of hydraulic measurement and control products, welcomed future engineers from Swavesey Village College to its UK HQ manufacturing facility at St Ives.  The nine students from years 10 & 11 spent the morning with the manufacturing, engineering and sales departments, to get a taste of what a career at Webtec could be.

They were split into two groups and had a worksheet to answer questions during the tour. At the end of the morning, they spent time with Martin Cuthbert, Managing Director and the hosting Webtec team for further discussions and a question and answer session. It was a successful tour and all the students left with career information and a Webtec goody bag.

Mark Bennet from Swavesey Village College said “The trip was just brilliant, and I cannot thank Webtec and the staff who helped us enough. We are already looking into planning more trips early next year.”

As Martin Cuthbert Webtec’s Managing Director explained, “we actively invite local students to visit Webtec to tour the company and experience first-hand what career opportunities we offer, particularly in STEM subjects. As a company we are committed and will continue to inspire others to enjoy the challenges that engineering brings.”

Webtec recognises the importance of introducing new engineers into the industry. It sponsors and supports schemes including the Arkwright Scholarship, Primary Engineer® Leaders Award, Engineering Education Scheme (EES) and Make UK’s ‘National Engineering Day.
