Turning team supervisor (Elect/designate)

We are currently looking for a Turning Team Supervisor to join our manufacturing department.

THE ROLE:
To programme, set and operate the CNC turning centres and manage the day to day running of the Turning department. This includes the manufacturing process, the equipment and the team to produce components that are manufactured in tolerance and on time. To ensure that all relevant procedures and health & safety systems are adhered to.

The succesful candidate will have a solid engineering background (HND/HNC/apprenticeship) and prefiably have supervision or management training.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To programme, set and operate the CNC turning centres.
  • To carry out continuous inspection to ensure manufactured parts are made to drawing.
  • Ensure all associated documentation is completed and ISO9001 procedures are complied with.
  • To ensure that all paperwork and the ERP systems is kept up-to-date
  • To ensure that the turning area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • To ensure that any oil spillages are immediately cleaned up and the affected areas are cordoned off until made safe again for use.
  • To coordinate activities of all Turning department personnel to ensure timely manufacture of components.
  • To manage the performance of all team members through regular meetings, annual appraisals and ensure training is given on products and processes as required.
  • To help grow and develop a suitable Team to ensure the Turning department continues to flourish and meet the vision and objectives, including identification and recruitment of new and additional roles.
  • To mentor apprentices assigned to the turning section.
  • To be the first point of contact in case of issues with the turning machines.
  • Ensure the Company Health & Safety system is being adhered to and pro-actively work to make improvements.
  • To liaise with the Production Scheduler about job priorities and issues arising that effect the timely completion of jobs.
  • To liaise with the Materials Controller about material issues.
  • To liaise with Engineering to improve the ease of manufacture of parts.
  • To help the Machine Shop Manager with planning, evaluating and implementing new technologies and equipment to improve productivity.
  • To participate in any project or carry out specific tasks that may be assigned by the Machine Shop Manager, Production Scheduler or Operations Director from time to time.
