Recognising the Importance of Apprentices

We recognise that bringing and training new talent into any business is important for continued success and National Apprenticeship Week it is a great time to congratulate our apprentices for the great contribution they make here at Webtec.

Our three apprentices, Sam Winder in Electric/mechanical Assembly, Harry Sutterby and Ada Pidgeon who are both CNC apprentices (with Ada being our first female apprentice), are all at various stages in their three-year apprenticeships.  Combining college and work experience is the perfect combination to learn on the job and develop new skills.

Why choose an apprenticeship at Webtec?  As Sam explained, “I have always loved more hands on work especially with electronics and putting things together, so when I discovered this apprenticeship at Webtec I knew instantly that it was something I could really enjoy, however the thing that really caught my eye was the fact that I would be working to become an engineer which has always been an aspiration to me that has come from family members”.

Harry is looking forward to, “learning how to program the CNC machines as that one off the main reasons I came to the apprenticeship”. His favourite subject in school was engineering and “loved the idea of making thing from scrap materials”.

Ada is excited to learn more about machining and how the machines are programmed. One of her hobbies is snowboarding, and her favourite subject at school was Maths.

Webtec takes part in career fairs at the local schools and colleges, and these are run by past and current apprentices as they are best placed to give help and advice on taking up the many opportunities that apprenticeships offer.
