We are looking for a Machine Shop Operative

Based in a busy machine shop this a varied role involving the finishing of components from our CNC machines that require deburring, cleaning, rumbling and drilling. The role also requires the use of a forklift to move material and stock around and empty swarf containers as well as using the IT system to book received material in. They will be required to work independently without constant supervision

Your role as machine shop operative is mainly to help with conducting second operations work to components that have been produce by our CNC machines or from our suppliers.


  • To deburr, clean, rumble and drill components as required
  • To use the forklift truck to empty swarf bins, unload raw materials and load goods for despatch.
  • To book in materials & sub-contracted jobs when they arrive from the supplier.
  • To ensure the ERP system and all paperwork is completed correctly and on time.
  • To deliver and pick up products locally using company vehicle.
  • To ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to and work in a safe and competent manner.
  • To carry out any duties that may be assigned by the Machine Shop Manager, Production Scheduler or the Operations Director.

The ideal candidate will have some experience of working in an engineering environment, have good manual dexterity, be tidy and organised and hold a full driving license. The candidate needs to be computer literate to be able to enter information on to the ERP system. An existing forklift license would be an advantage.
