It’s great when a company gets to meet the winner of the scholarship they have sponsored and during the Summer months we had the privilege to meet and work with Ethan Green, who was awarded the Roy Cuthbert Scholarship back in 2020.
Webtec has been proud supporters of the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship since 1991 and the Roy Cuthbert Scholarship, which is part of the scheme, was named after the company’s founder, a passionate engineer and entrepreneur who passed away in 2013.
During his time with Webtec, Ethan worked 1 ½ months in Instrumentation Assembly supporting with sub-assembly builds and learnt about work instructions, ECAs and the importance of outputting quality products for our customers. He also worked closely with the company’s CI function to provide an extra pair of hands on the new racking project in the machine shop. In his last month he worked on building/testing on the VFD120.
In addition to his time spent on assembly/testing on the shop floor, Ethan also spent time in other departments including production scheduling and purchasing which helped him to understand how all our processes are interlinked. During all of these training events Ethan asked lots of questions and it was great for the team to have someone so keen to learn and make an impact!
Ethan is now enjoying the next stage in his career at Loughborough University, where he has started a four-year Engineering Degree and Webtec is looking forward to welcoming him back during the holidays and hearing about the new skills he has developed.
“It was great to have the opportunity to meet and work with Ethan and we would like to thank him for all his hard work. We wish him all the best for his future and are looking forward to welcoming the next scholarship winners in the future”, commented, Martin Cuthbert, Webtec’s Managing Director.
Ethan wanted to thank everybody at Webtec for the opportunity to work with the team and said, “the placement at Webtec has been a great experience and provided me with a head-start on my Engineering Degree”.
