The optimal way to reduce piping requirements and installation costs in a hydraulic safety circuit

As part of a new or existing project to reduce total installation costs, have you ever struggled to minimise the piping requirements of a safety-critical hydraulic circuit? Well, a custom zero-leak rotary shear directional control valve provides a cost-effective way forward, as the designer of a circuit for oil well safety equipment discovered to his benefit recently.

Many design engineers in this situation would start by looking through shear valve data sheets, discovering a choice of standard line, O-ring, O-ring manifold or ISO D03 mount options. However, for the oil well safety equipment, the design engineer wanted a bespoke solution that would minimise the cost of installation. Working with our team of experts, the engineer specified a custom 8-port valve with four ports duplicated on the bottom and side. This special configuration of Webtec 180 series zero-leak rotary shear directional control valve provided the advantage of choosing which ports to use in particular instances (simply plugging the remainder), reducing both piping complexity and costs.
