The scholarship, named after Webtec’s late founder, Roy Cuthbert, was presented to Adam Gough at a prestigious awards ceremony in London in October 2014, organised by the Arkwright Scholarships Trust , whose aim is to ‘Inspire future leaders in Engineering’.

Webtec, whose head office is based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire have over 50 years’ history in designing, manufacturing and marketing hydraulic measurement and control products. Their MD, Martin Cuthbert said, “I’d like to warmly congratulate Adam for winning the Roy Cuthbert Arkwright Scholarship and I’d also like to thank the Arkwright Trust for their tireless work in promoting careers in engineering to secondary school children, which is entirely in keeping with Roy’s passion which was, ‘Come what may, there will always be a need for Engineers’”.

Scholars are selected for their potential as future leaders in Engineering following a rigorous selection process comprising: an assessed application form with teacher’s reference; a two hour aptitude exam; and a university-based interview. The Scholarships support students through their sixth form studies and encourage them into top universities and higher apprenticeship schemes.

At the 2014 Awards the Arkwright Scholarships Trust made its largest ever award of Scholarships for aspiring leaders in engineering, including 410 sixth form Scholarships and 7 Undergraduate Scholarships. For further information please go to http://www.arkwright.org.uk/.
